Best Neighborhoods in Granbury, Texas

Granbury is one of those towns in North Texas that keeps things pretty simple in the best way. You’ve got Lake Granbury running through it, a historic downtown square that’s actually active (not just for show), and then a mix of neighborhoods that range from gated lake communities to more open, rural-style living just outside of town.



If you’re trying to get a feel for the area, it helps to look at the main neighborhoods people usually talk about. Each one has a slightly different setup depending on location, housing style, and access to amenities.


Pecan Plantation

Pecan Plantation is one of the largest and most well-known gated communities in the Granbury area. It’s located along the Brazos River and sits a few miles outside of the main city center.


What stands out here is the scale of the community. It has multiple entrances, a wide internal road system, and a full set of amenities that operate within the neighborhood itself. That includes golf courses, a marina, walking trails, a private airport, and a small commercial area with essentials like groceries and dining.


Housing in Pecan Plantation includes custom homes, garden homes, and larger estate-style properties. It’s part of Granbury ISD, and because of its size, different sections of the neighborhood can feel a bit different depending on where you are.



DeCordova Bend Estates

DeCordova Bend Estates is a gated community located on a peninsula of Lake Granbury. The layout is shaped by the lake itself, so many of the streets curve around water or golf course areas.


The neighborhood includes a golf course, clubhouse, tennis courts, and lake access points. A lot of homes are custom-built, and many lots are positioned to take advantage of lake views or wooded surroundings.


It’s a long-established community, and it continues to operate as a residential lake and golf-focused area within Granbury ISD.


Indian Harbor

Indian Harbor is another gated community, located on the northern side of Lake Granbury. It’s more spread out compared to some of the other planned neighborhoods, with a focus on wooded lots and lake access.


The community includes a marina, boat ramps, a pool, and park areas. Because of its location, many homes are either near the water or within a short distance of it.


Indian Harbor has a mix of full-time residents and second homes, which is fairly common in lake-centered neighborhoods in the area. It’s also part of Granbury ISD.


Harbor Lakes

Harbor Lakes is a planned community located closer to central Granbury. It’s built around the Harbor Lakes Golf Club and includes both residential streets and golf course frontage homes.


Compared to some of the older or more rural areas around Granbury, Harbor Lakes has a more structured suburban layout with sidewalks, landscaped streets, and newer construction homes.


Its location also makes it relatively convenient to downtown Granbury, shopping, and schools, all within a short drive. It’s part of Granbury ISD as well.



Acton Area

The Acton area is located just east of Granbury and isn’t a single subdivision. Instead, it’s a broader residential area made up of several neighborhoods, rural developments, and homes on larger lots.


This area includes Acton Elementary and Acton Middle School, which serve a large portion of local families. Housing here varies quite a bit, some subdivisions are more traditional suburban-style, while other properties sit on larger acreage with more space between homes.


Acton also has direct access to Highway 377, which connects it to Granbury and surrounding areas, making it a common residential choice for people who want more land or flexibility in property size.


Downtown Granbury Area

The downtown Granbury area refers to the residential streets surrounding the Historic Square and nearby lakefront sections. This is one of the older parts of the city, so you’ll see a mix of original homes, updated properties, and smaller residential streets woven into the town layout.


The Historic Square itself includes restaurants, shops, events, and city offices, and the surrounding neighborhoods are within close proximity to all of that activity. Some areas are also close to Lake Granbury and local parks.


This section of town is centrally located and part of Granbury ISD, making it one of the more convenient areas in terms of access to schools and city services.


Granbury’s neighborhoods are fairly diverse for a smaller city. You’ve got gated lake communities like Pecan Plantation and DeCordova Bend Estates, more suburban-style developments like Harbor Lakes, and then broader areas like Acton that offer more space and flexibility.



Most areas fall into either lake-focused living, planned suburban communities, or more open residential land outside the main town. That mix is part of what gives Granbury a lot of variety despite its size, and it makes it easier to find something that fits different lifestyles without going far from town.
